THE MIND IS NOT MERELY THE BRAIN – THE CASE OF RYAN OYUCHI
The
other day I was awestruck by this young boy Ryan on Churchill Live – a popular
Kenyan comedy show. The young boy could tell colours apart while blind-folded.
He could even read a children’s book and a newspaper while completely
blindfolded. The
seven-year old class one pupil was discovered after attending a class at
Peak-performance, an entity that trains people to push their limits.
I wrote this article about a year ago (10/10/2013 0707HRS). Then, it was just a hypothesis. So, today morning (08/10/2014), I stumble upon this article online....

It just goes to prove me right. The brain does play a large role but is not wholly responsible for awareness, consciousness, knowledge, intelligence, intuition... and many other "higher" functions.
You should watch the sci-fi movie "LUCY" - I don't believe the whole 10% myth, still - when we stop restricting the mind to the brain, we open up a whole new realm of reality that we humans are perhaps afraid to explore...

This
got me thinking – he had not gone through the lifetime discipline of the Kungu-fu
masters, Buddhists monks, Psychics and Mentalists and there is no way this could have
been a mental trick. Without the benefit of any sensory perception, the kid
could read complex text clearly as if his eyes were open.
Science
tells us that light must be reflected from the book, perceived by our eyes,
projected onto the retina and nerve impulses created that travel to the brain
which then interprets the picture. So, if light did not travel from the book to
his eyes, then it suffices to say, that he has another sense that we ordinary
humans have not even begun to conceive.
You
may also say that his mind in not strictly domiciled in his brain but all
around him. For the sake of sanity let us call this sense INTUITION, or
EXTRA-SENSORY PERCEPTION or TELEPATHY - whatever!
Is
Ryan unique or has he just tapped into a dimension that is available to other/all
human beings?
Many
of us have had this prickly hair feeling at the back of our heads when we sense
danger. What about the feeling that someone is staring at you? That’s not
unique! How about mothers who get the milk let-down reflex? Have you ever
thought of someone and out of the blues, that person calls you, sometimes after
a very long time?
May
I also add that this sense is not unique to human beings. Animals too display
amazing capabilities like finding their breeding grounds sometimes across
hemispheres. A school of fish, turning away from a predator without bumping
into each other even in very dark waters.
Most animals can actually tell if you are staring at them!
Allow
me to theorize that this sense is not unique to Ryan. That all of us have extra-sensory
perception capabilities but we have not even begun to scratch the surface in
terms of exploring them.
So
then, I wish to affirm that there is a mind beyond our physical bodies that is
not just the brain. Rather, the mind is a force-field spread out beyond our bodies very much
like earth’s gravitational pull. Again for the sake of simplicity and sanity
let’s call this force-field – the SOUL, or the SPIRIT or the CHI. When correctly
channeled, this force can help us perceive the hidden, communicate across vast
distances without the telephone or even know who to trust by merely looking at
them.
Do
you now believe that the blind can see? The deaf can hear? The dumb can talk? That
people can bend a spoon by just looking at it? That a mother can tell when her
child, a thousand miles away, is in trouble?
You
better believe it. There is a hazy line between science and religion but if you
look further, deeper, there is a convergence somewhere. So you don’t believe in
the yada yada religious/witchcraft crap? Think again!

Then again, this blog is about exploring the impossible -another life beyond this life... maybe?
